Two vehicle surfaces
Operational helicopters belong to US Forces and connect the air surface to fire support and supply drops. Heavily armed patrol boats belong to both sides and connect water movement to riverine combat and waterway skirmishes. The difference is easy to state and easy to misuse if it becomes a vehicle-only plan. Helicopters need a ground request. Boats need a water route and a reason to be there. Both depend on the same chain of command that turns a vehicle sighting into a sector decision.
The table keeps side and function beside the vehicle name so the comparison stays actionable. Use the helicopter record with Roles and Factions when the question is who can operate or request the support. Use patrol boats with Battlefields and Riverine combat when the question is how a crossing, dock or river network changes the route.

Helicopters: support with a destination
A helicopter’s value is measured on the ground. The squad should provide a position, a pressure point and the action it will take after fire support or a supply drop. Logistics Officer and Pilot are US-only roles in the current roster, while Commander and Squad Leader connect the request to the wider and local plan. A runway edge, bridge approach, dock or open lane gives the request a destination that another player can recognize.
If the support changes the route, move through the opening and report the result. If it only draws attention, use that information to reposition. If the request no longer matches the sector, update it. The vehicle is a capability; the communication around it decides whether the capability is usable.

Patrol boats: movement with pressure
Patrol boats make a waterway mobile. They can contest a crossing, carry pressure along a river network and turn a dock into a dangerous approach. The map record determines what the boat can influence, while Recon and squad communication determine whether the team sees it early enough to choose another bank, hold the edge or call for support. Swimming and climbing add personal movement choices, but the boat remains a team-level timing problem.
Read the vehicle record with the route record. At Thanh Hóa Bridge the river crossing is the central surface. At Vạn Tường a river network makes boats part of the map identity. Cam Ranh Port adds docks, dunes and logistics. When the player can name the water surface and the intended fallback, the vehicle page has done its job.

Choose the moving surface
A vehicle callout should tell the squad what is moving, where it is moving and which route the movement changes. Helicopters affect air support and supply timing; patrol boats affect banks, docks and crossings. That distinction is enough for a new player to report a useful observation without inventing specifications that the launch record does not contain. Connect the vehicle to the map surface, then choose the role that can act on the result. A short call such as ‘patrol boat at the Vạn Tường river lane’ gives Recon, Infantry and the Squad Leader a shared next question: cross, hold the bank or change the fallback. The captured vehicle set stays at these two surfaces, so the page is a planning aid rather than a complete vehicle encyclopedia.
