Current build
Seventeen roles. Six unit surfaces.
Command holds Commander, the role responsible for command and coordination across the larger team surface. Infantry carries the ordinary line and field-support work through Squad Leader, Rifleman, Grenadier, Engineer, Medic, Specialist and Machine Gunner. Recon contains Spotter and Sniper. Armour contains Tank Commander and Crewman. Helicopter contains Logistics Officer and Pilot, both listed as US only. Mortar Squad contains Observer, Support and Gunner.
The list is easier to use when the player reads unit and purpose together. Squad Leader is not just another infantry name; its purpose is squad leadership. Engineer is connected to construction and field support. Medic is tied to casualty recovery. Spotter and Sniper separate observation from precision reconnaissance. Mortar roles split observation, support and firing. Use the filter when a squad request names the unit surface, then open Command for the role that coordinates the whole picture.

Side availability changes the choice
Fifteen of the current records are available to both sides in the captured Steam roster, while Logistics Officer and Pilot are US-only. That makes the Helicopter filter a direct route to the US Forces asymmetry. It also prevents a new player from treating a class list as a universal menu: the role must exist on the side being played. Faction identity and unit purpose meet in the same row.
A practical selection starts with the squad’s missing function. Need a leader, choose Squad Leader. Need an observation line, compare Spotter and Sniper. Need armour coordination, use Tank Commander or Crewman. Need mortar delivery, identify Observer, Support or Gunner. If the request is only ‘we need more people’, Rifleman is a readable first answer because it stays on the general infantry line while the player learns the map and communication rhythm.
Field note
Filter before you lock a slot
The unit filter is a fast planning tool, not a ranking. Selecting Helicopter narrows the roster to Logistics Officer and Pilot; selecting Infantry keeps the seven infantry records together; selecting Mortar Squad isolates the three roles that make a firing team. The side filter then shows which records are legal for the chosen faction. The count beside the controls reports what remains, so a player can verify that a query changed the roster rather than changing the page’s meaning.
Use the command detail next when your role choice affects the whole squad. Use Systems when the role is attached to a mechanic such as helicopters, tunnels or movement. Use Battle doctrine when you need to decide how a group of roles should move across a map. The roster is the entry point; the purpose column is the handoff to play.
